About the Training
This two day EVENING course, Tuesday June 18th and Wednesday June 19th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, is being taught over two evenings to accommodate Evening and Midnight Shift Officers. This ONLINE course is designed for Front Line Patrol Officers, Investigators, and Supervisors to identify and manage cases that may require a Risk Protection Order (RPO) to mitigate potential threats of Gun Violence in your communities.
Course Objectives:
- Triage cases and identify opportunities to utilize Florida's Risk Protection Order Law
- Understand the history of Risk Protection Orders in preventing Targeted Violence
- Understand the Florida RPO Process from Investigation, to Petition, to Service, Firearm Recovery, and Management
This course is being delivered by Christopher Carita.
He is a national expert on violence prevention, behavioral threat assessment, and the implementation of Extreme Risk Protection Laws. Christopher earned his Master of Public Health as an esteemed Bloomberg American Health Initiative Fellow at Johns Hopkins University focusing on Violence Prevention, and currently advises on Extreme Risk Protection Order Implementation and Training at the Center for Gun Violence Solutions. He also brings 19 years of invaluable experience in Law Enforcement where he was a Detective specializing in the investigation of threats of mass violence.
Christopher is also a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and recognized as a Master Trainer by the Department of Homeland Security’s National Threat Assessment and Reporting Program.
